The
Pat Murphy Band plays what they
affectionately call
'SIPPIANA
SOUL MUSIC
It
is the roots music of the Deep South,
a spicy musical gumbo whose ingredients
include the jumping Texas blues shuffles of Bobby Blue Bland, Junior Parker and
Louis Jordan, the second line funk, dixieland jazz and rhythm & blues of the
New Orleans streets along with and a generous seasoning of the gritty southern
soul music of Memphis and Muscle Shoals.
The
Pat Murphy Band works in a classic seven piece format consisting
of a four piece rhythm section, two piece horn section and a female vocalist.
Based in what the band likes to call 'Sippianaland
(The Scenic Mississippi Gulf Coast)
just fifty miles east of New Orleans, The
Pat Murphy Band is known as "the
honkinest horn band in 'Sippianaland" .
Murphy says " we are one of the very few horn bands in the area
that encourages our horn players stretch out and play."
This band has been called the musical ambassadors of the Mississippi
Gulf Coast, a position that they take quite seriously. They are the
cream of the crop when it comes to horn and jump blues, funk, classic
southern soul music and jazz.
The
Pat Murphy Band's extensive song list of great dancing music
is guaranteed to bring the most discscriminating audience in any venue to it's
feet. See them and you'll love them!!
